My Christmas Break Decompression Strategy

I wish I had really interesting pictures to upload that could accurately depict our holidays. But alas and alak: I didn't take very many. I was too busy reveling with my peeps. We had a wonderful time visiting with LOTS of family. I will have to fill you in later in another post... but for now, I wish to brag about some truly amazing feats of wonder. Yay me!
Let me start off by saying this was the first break of much consequence that I have had since Spring of dental school last year. It was loooooong overdue. My brain has been scholastically baked for the better part of eight months without much of a reprieve. So let me preface the listing of my major accomplishments of late by warning you that when you hear them, you are going to be amazed at what a dork I truly am...

Or maybe not. Maybe I'm not hiding it as well as I think I am.

So here it goes... My major accomplishments: First, I finally got into the Twilight series. Much to the chagrin of all the boys in my household (who call the series "Twi-wipe" and are horribly bitter that the sixth Harry Potter movie was preempted by the bloodsucker movie), I have been plowing through vampire love stories like there's no tomorrow... Two books in four days. To be honest, I think Bella is a STUPID, STUPID girl, and I hate, HATE, H-A-T-E that she thinks her stalker/boyfriend is romantic by sneaking into her bedroom and watching her sleep... Oh yah, and he wants to EAT her!!!! (BIG red flag in my book)... but I feel strangely compelled to finish the series. I guess my girly-girl instincts are peeking through, despite my testosterone-rich home environment. Either that, or the OCD in me simply dictates that I finish what I started. Whatever the cause, I need to get my hands on the last two books, and SOON!

But to be clear, my Man-Brain (as Wayne calls it), was not to be outdone. To counterbalance the estrogen-fest in my literary choices over the break, I blew up aliens for an entire night. That's right folks. I guess I missed pulling all-nighters studying about the carnage of oral surgery and root canals, so I stayed up until 6:30 AM enjoying carnage of a different sort by playing Halo 3... Oh, and did I mention that I beat it on two levels? Yah. I'm a masterful Master Chief.

...And I'm a total nerd.

Twi-wipe! ROFL! I better not tell my husband that or he'll be all over that name and I'll never hear the end of him using it. Congratulations on starting those compelling things. Welcome to the she-pack! Stephenie Meyer is not the world best writer, but her books drag you in and pull you under!

And way to go, Halo woman! 6:30am? I've stayed up blogging til four and reading a book til 5:30, but wow! 6:30! That is very impressive!

Yeap, I have pulled a few of those all nighters. The worst part is not acting tired the next day (same day) despite feeling like a gym sock so that your spouse doesn't mock you for being a dork.

Shana, my love, you have just given me full license to pull my own video-game-heaven all-nighter without fear of never-ending ridicule for my nerd-a-licious ways.

... AND, TWILIGHT?! Dang, fetch, oh my heck, girl!

So much for my chest-thumping about MY woman being COOL. (But you still are, in my book... for now)

Jason, there was definitely a LOT of that saving face going on... Especially after Wayne trudged out to the living room at 6:00, muttering, "You suck!" and then stumbled back to bed awaiting my triumphal completion of the last level.

Welcome to Twilight-addicts-anonymous! I have the 4th book that you can borrow whenever.

Congrats on these feats...with all the other things you've been accomplishing these days, I'd say this was long overdue.

BTW - when changing the background for Caleb & Co. this was the original one that I chose, but thought it was a little too feminine for my boy's blog. Our taste really does spill into the blogging world.

Shana NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They finally got to you did they? Those danged sparkly vampires with their perfect teeth and tousled hair!

So is that "Doctor Shana: Master Chief" now? Is there no end to your greatness?

In the world of nerds, you are WAY cooler than me. I've been staying up ridiculously late playing Lego Batman--the game where it's impossible to die. So I ROCK at it!!!

As for Twilight, I wonder if you will draw the same conclusion I did: they are a fun compelling read, but I don't really understand the obsession (sorry ladies). Maybe it is due to the fact that I can't stand Bella. Edward's pretty cool. But he doesn't hold a candle to my Chubby.

creepy, yes! i agree, i haven't finished the last two books because i "hate" them. torn between reliving my stalker high school drama days of my own with my imaginary boyfriend who was a real person, but not my boyfriend. LOL. they are crazy books and very compelling to read though.

Angie, I think your comments about "Chubby" have left many people speechless. It seems they keep commenting and then thinking better of it.

"Chubby"? I will NOT ask.
(But, you might rather tell me than leave me alone to imagine.)

Mom - *shudder*

Oh I am having a great time reading your blog tonight. I can NOT believe you stayed up till 6:30AM playing Halo 3. Tyler would be MORE than impressed with you. Way to go!

And the graphic about video games. Is that from a shirt? I seriously need to find that for Tyler. He would love that for his bday.

I loved reading about your Christmas too! Everything from the girls' night in Beverly Hills to the break-in was great!

It was from a t-shirt... Though, if you saw the guy that was wearing it, you might think better of buying it for Tyler. Notice how the words are kind of stretched to the max? I cropped out the armpit stains, but you get the picture!
