Did You Ever Think...?

Did you ever think we'd love eachother more now than on that day?

Did you ever think after sixteen years I'd still think you were hot stuff, even without the Morrisey hair?

Did you ever think we'd have been through so much and still want to spend eternity together?

Did you ever think the inside jokes and silly little secrets that we shared sixteen years ago would still be going on?

Did you ever think that mischievous smile would still make me melt?

Did you ever think we would still know how to cut loose...even during those times when we ought to be serious?

When you said "I will" sixteen years ago, did you ever think we would have made it through:
  • Seven jobs
  • Eight moves
  • Nine moving vans
  • Five vehicles
  • One vehicle fire
  • One vehicular vandalism
  • One lawsuit
  • The birth of two children
  • Hospitalization of one of those children
  • Diagnoses of many growth maladies and daily shots in the other
  • One appendectomy
  • About 150 weeks of PMS
  • One parent dying
  • Another parent surviving cancer and going through divorce
  • The marriages of three little sisters and one mother
  • The births of two nephews, ten nieces, and the death of one
  • Both kids completing elementary school, one completing Jr. High
  • Two bachelor's degrees
  • Three graduate degrees (one pending)
  • The MSAT, CBEST, DAT, NDBE parts 1 and 2, and the WREB
  • Ownership of nearly 50 computers
  • One private investigator hunting you down from 1989
  • Three sets of hearing aids
  • At least 6754 arguments about the volume on the stereo/T.V.
  • A bout with a marital counselor
  • Three different callings within the bishopric
  • One comedic house plant named "Shwing" and its ultimate demise

Did you ever think one awkward dance in the single's ward and one salty attempt at meatloaf would have led to this?

Happy 16th Anniversary, Wayno!

Summer Escapism

We have a friend in the movie biz down here. Despite the downturn in our economy and the huge unemployment phenomenon, his job is quite secure. In fact, he says he's never been busier. Why? Because when the chips are down, people like to escape. Your house is in foreclosure? What better way to avoid the stress than head to the movies! Lost your job? Grab a 1500 calorie bag of popcorn and enjoy the luxurious air conditioned, plush velvet seating of the multiplex.

So here are my recommendations for this summer's sure-fire hits at the box-office. There's something here for everyone.

Perhaps you are in the mood for a heartwarming romantic comedy...

...Or in the mood for an inspirational drama...

...Or, in the spirit of "Brokeback Mountain" and "Lord of the Rings," perhaps you wish to explore some emotions you are not sure what to make of...

...Maybe you are looking to escape the summer doldrums and head to the theater to be scared out of your mind. What could be scarier than the horror of Julie Andrews?

...If you're looking for a good drama with social commentary and some serious acting chops...

...See some of your favorite actors as you've never seen them before...

...Or, if you're looking for a good monster movie, this one is sure not to disappoint...

Have fun at the movies!
(Some people have WAAAAAY too much time on their hands.)

Ode to Busby's

Busby's Sports Bar
You sound like fun
As your drunkard patrons
Wander at one.

One A.M. I hear their call
At the top of their lungs
Down the alley
Songs that ought not be sung:

"Livin' on a Prayer"
"Odo the Hero"
"I Believe I Can Fly"
Their tonal resonance I would rate a zero.

Slurring their words
They discuss Ninja turtles
Tripping over pepples
As though they were hurdles.

I am lacking sleep.
Forgive my rhyme.
I know it sucks.
But 2:00 a.m. is closing time.

You don't have to have a blogger account to sign in, and it takes but a moment to complete. I can't wait to see all the different places that pop up on the map! If you have a picture to upload, please do so. This will be a great way to remember all the family and friends that keep spreading out accross the globe and to see who stops by for a random visit.
