California Adventure

Since my driver's licence still has Riverside listed as my address, I was able to take advantage of the Southern California residents' special Disney deal with Kelly, which afforded a two-for-one deal on the tickets to the adjacent Disney theme parks. We spent the first whole day at Disneyland. But the next day, after the competition ended, we had the chance for a couple of hours to go California Adventure for FREE! (told you we were cheap.) California Adventure has a few really fun rides. Had it not been for the deal on the tickets, however, I don't think it's worth the normal price... especially if you already live in California. It is designed as a montage of California stereotypes (sans Hippies and rival gangs). Maybe I'm just spoiled, having lived in the amusement park mecca of America.(Above) At the boardwalk: the roller coaster in the background is one of the best I've been on (called California Screamin'). We went on it twice in the short time we had at the park. But the main attraction that we REALLY went to see was the Hollywood Tower of Terror... Okay, I really wanted to go. I had to drag Kelly onto it. But she pounded down a couple of Bonine for motion sickness and manned up. Can you see how excited she looks?
It turned out to be a total blast! The ride takes you up an elevator, drops you, shoots you back up again, opens up the doors to the outside to show you how far up you are, drops you again, drops you again, shoots you up again... you get the picture. The point is, it's totally random and you don't know when you are going to drop or get launched back up to the top: A crazy sensation that proved to be so worth the butterflies the anticipation induced.

I love adrenaline!

Oh my goodness. I think I will be laughing about "sans Hippies and rival gangs" for the next few days. Sounds like we'll do just a Disneyland trip this time around...we are cheap and need to save some cash. Maybe C.A. isn't necessary! Thanks for the tips. I'm going to post a "Help, we're going to Disneyland" something on my blog soon. I welcome any tips you can share!!
