Since Wayne Never Went to Prom

...I thought we could recreate the experience.

Only a few differences that I noticed...
  1. My date showed up on time. Not like the time for Junior Prom when my date gouged his hand on the Saran Wrap cutter and had to stop the bleeding before putting on his rented tux and then made us late so we couldn't go play putt-putt golf with all of our friends in our finery and then barely made our dinner reservations and sat by the entrance to the kitchen while the flippy door with the window slammed next to our table nonstop. Yah. That was a hoot.
  2. No corsages or boutonnieres.
  3. Wayne didn't pick me up in a borrowed Toyota Selica with a steering wheel made of shiny chrome chains... Cuz that was better than my date's car, sadly.
  4. I didn't spend hours in the beauty salon with all my girlfriends and didn't put any decal rhinestones on my fingernails.
  5. No rhinestones. Period.
  6. Probably most notably... Our son was taking the pictures... and he'll be going to prom in less than three years!
U R a QT. Luv U 4-ever!

Just for fun, here's a picture of the bleeder. And BTW, I was upset at the hairstylist for not making my bangs poufy enough. And as another side note, I made my dress so that I could learn how to sew. Stunning taffeta, eh?

Shana, you know what's funny? You hardly look any different after 20 years...

FTR, I WAS being a dork in that top pic.

Wow, Shana, you are beautiful! I love your dress, and your stories (as always) take the cake! Seriously, how is your life so freaking funny? We miss you guys!

OMG! I totally remember the dress, and the bleeder, too! I agree...the bangs could've been poofier.

Love you tons!

That was GREAT!! I can't believe you made that. My Senior Prom was HORRIBLE, so horrible I won't even talk about it. Junior Prom was GREAT!! I went with a bunch of friends and I even talked to my date today we are still friends. And I did not make either of my dress sadly they were both $300 because well I was in High School I had to be like everyone else.

I forgot to mention that the picture didn't do the jacket justice, with the matching hot-pink taffeta lining and all.

I didn't go to prom as a social statement, not because I couldn't get a date. >:P

Those who know me well, can attest to this fact.

... Yeah, I was THAT kid, the one who wore black turtlenecks, listened to The Cure, and had great contempt for anything too mainstream...

So, I haven't changed much...

But in the end, who got the cute cheerleader?

Prom is definitely overrated.

LOVE the bangs :)

Wow, you go Wayne. Looks like you didn't need to be Prom King after all to snag the cutest girl in school. So was this some sort of dental formal event?
You really put things in perspective with the realization that Nat could be going to prom in the next few years. I have a feeling though that he might be taking after his dad by making a "social statement" as Wayne put it.
Shan, you look hot in your high school prom photo. I would have been of the same sentiment about the bangs. I could never get them high enough.

P.S. I'm glad you ditched the bleeder and found someone much more exciting and edgy. :) He looks way too drab for your style. :)

Don't you two look just dapper. Seriously, so cute! I bet another difference is you "hit a homer" after this date! wink-wink
