It is Finished

Finally!!!
Graduation has come and gone. It was over in the blink of an eye. A whirlwind weekend full of laughter and tears. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate a bunch of folks in funny looking hats. Pomp and Circumstance.

It's over. I don't feel miraculously changed, as I thought I would. Somehow, I had built the occasion up in my mind to be a life-altering experience that would cause a remarkable mantle of wisdom to fall upon me... Nope. Just a piece of paper that says I'm a doctor now, and not even a real sense of closure yet because it's so surreal. I keep pinching myself, thinking at some point I will wake up, standing in a ridiculously long line waiting for sterile instruments... or back in an auditorium with professors droning on about demineralized tooth enamel... but I'm not going to wake up into that reality (at least not at Pacific).

I don't have much time to be reflective. It is on to the next challenge: A pediatric residency at UCLA that awaits me in just two short weeks.

But, Oh! Man! This was a fun dream for the last three years!

Stay tuned... So many pictures and so many posts yet to come.

Great family picture! I am so proud of you, honestly you are my hero. You have more determination and motivation in one little tiny finger than I have in my entire body. I do have a one question though. Can I call you Doc from now on? Just putting that out there. If you don't like it just send it right back.

Angie: You were there in spirit. We all came to a consensus and felt it would be kind of a bummer if you went into labor during the ceremony.

Shellie and Katie: I think black and billowy is my new favorite thing to wear. It hides all my trouble spots (though I have yet to figure out a way to look nonchalant about buying groceries in a commencement gown).

Anna: We have yet to figure out how Nathan looks more like Angie's son than mine, but there it is... He is dark and Italian-looking, though both of his parents are blonde.

Diana: You must address me as doctor... Just like Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. I now make Wayne say, "Sank you Docta" on a regular basis. It's my right now. ;-)

Bottom line: Thank you all for your sweet words!

It was a grand event!!
Amy and I enjoyed the whole weekend (Allergies not included). Caleb is pissed off that he didn't get to join us for the 3+ hour event. I promised him a front row seat for your residency grad.
