Wayne and I took the opportunity today to take in some of the beautiful sites we will be missing when we leave No.Cal. Conditions were perfect with the weather being so crisp and the boys in school. Originally, we had hoped to take a little hike in Muir Woods. But when we got there, all the parking was full and cars were milling around, ready to swoop into any spots that were going to open up. (Doesn't anybody around here have a job? They can't ALL be on Spring Break!) So, we decided to head over to Point Bonita instead. The first picture is on the drive back from Muir Woods, overlooking Mill Valley and Tiburon. We could see all the way to the Bay Bridge, it was so clear.
So here are all the colors of the rainbow (and I'm not talking about the infamous San Francisco rainbow culture):
Red--The brilliant hue of the algae on the Northern facing rocks
Orange--The California Poppies blooming all over the hillsides
Yellow--Inside the wild lillies and mustard grass and wild brush that seemed to be blooming EVERYWHERE
Green--The exquisitely verdant hillsides covering the Marin Headlands with Springtime
Blue--The Pacific waters in various turquoise and indigo shades that looked like they could be in the latest fashion magazines
Purple--More wildflowers shading the hillsides
Brown--The rich sands of Rodeo Beach
Black--The volcanic basalt rock that houses the lighthouse
White--The frothy tide as it smashes on the rocky shores.
Yep. We saw it all at Pt. Bonita. Here are a few pictures that pale in comparison to the real thing:

you guys have been having way too much fun..Those pics make me miss san fran so so badly. I wish so many times we were back there. I hope you guys enjoy the last little bit very much cause it will be over so soon. I am even more jealous that your moving to so-cal. I have always wanted to live there for a bit. Good luck with graduating and moving on. Keep in touch!
WOW! Those pictures were so great. And, yes, I think EVERYONE in the bay area is on spring break right now. I can't wait for this week to be over! :)
The colors you described were perfect. Spring is so wonderful here, and I too loved the contrast of the lagoon and the ocean.
Great, great pictures! Loved 'em all!
p.s.--I've never been to Point Bonita, but it looks like we definitely need to go!
you'll find southern cali lots of fun and beautiful too...in a different sort of way. Red--sunburns, Orange--smoggy sunsets, Yellow--sunflower daisies on the roadsides, Green--king palms, Blue--always the color of the sky if you're in san diego for a visit, Purple--baggy eyes when you don't get enough sleep from partying all night, Black--people (is that too controversial for LA?), White--flag you'd hold up when you surrender and never leave southern cali because its so darn wonderful!!
So.Cal certainly has its perks, no doubt. It's just the Brown, hazy air and concrete jungle I am most dreading. So for now, induldge me as I say my farewells to nature.
Those are some GREAT pix!!! I didn't know about this hidden talent of yours, Shanana!! Keep it up girl!!
Holy smokes- those were incredible pics. Thanks for sharing! It makes me a little home sick...
