My Motivation

This trip was very timely. The day before we were to leave, my program director called me into one of the "quiet rooms" in the clinic to ask if I would be Chief Resident next year. Now, don't be fooled... It sounds all prestigious and stuff, but what it really means is: whenever drama enters the residency, I get to clean up the mess. yay me. Thankfully, I got to escape the announcement and hide in beautiful Northern California at the most gorgeous time of the year and soak in the scenery...gearing up for what awaits me upon my return.

It's been nine years since I went back to school to finish my education... And by education, I mean the one that included two semesters of Junior College before I dropped out to get married and have babies. So I guess you could say my "education" had never really been started in the first place. My point being, when I am done with this last year + four months at UCLA, it will have been an entire decade of higher education. TEN YEARS of cramming stuff into this weary brain of mine! TEN YEARS of dragging my family up and down California in pursuit of degree after degree in order to land my dream job.

Cheers to you, Boys! We're almost done!

THIS is what we have to look forward to after this year.
THIS is where we will be living when all is said and done. THIS is home!
Let the countdown begin!

What a PERFECT family picture! I love it!! And I love your Northern California pride. It IS the best!

And good luck as Chief! Does that mean for your entire last year? Tyler will share the chief status w/his other 2 residents, so he only has to do it for 4 months of his 4th year. I cannot imagine the work load that must go on for 12 months! Good luck!

Natalie, it is for the WHOOOOOOLE year. Sheesh! Tyler has it so cush! (...and by that, I mean he has one of the toughest residencies on the planet!)

Thanks for all of your support, everybody!
